Many individuals and families arriving in Canada go through emotional stress while adjusting to a new country, culture, language, and lifestyle. Some people may also be dealing with trauma, family separation, uncertainty, financial stress, or difficult past experiences. IFHP helps eligible individuals access healthcare and mental health support during this transition period.
The Interim Federal Health Program, also known as IFHP, is a healthcare coverage program provided by the Government of Canada for eligible refugees, refugee claimants, protected persons, and certain newcomers who may not yet qualify for provincial health coverage. IFHP can help cover healthcare services such as medical care, counselling, mental health support, medications, and other essential health related services depending on eligibility and approval. At Arising Bliss Psychotherapy, we provide IFHP direct billing to make trauma and mental health counselling accessible for refugee claimants and protected persons.
IFHP coverage may be available for refugee claimants, resettled refugees, protected persons, victims of human trafficking, and certain other eligible newcomers to Canada. Eligibility depends on immigration status and approval under the Interim Federal Health Program.
Clients are usually required to provide their IFHP certificate or eligibility documents along with their UCI number so coverage can be verified before services begin.
Adjusting to life in a new country can feel mentally and emotionally exhausting. Many newcomers may struggle with anxiety, trauma, loneliness, emotional stress, grief, relationship challenges, or the pressure of rebuilding life from the beginning.
We provide a respectful and comfortable space where clients can openly discuss their experiences and receive support at a pace that feels right for them. We work with individuals dealing with emotional stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, family concerns, and other mental health challenges connected to settlement and life changes.
We offer culturally sensitive care in multiple languages including English, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Tamil, Marathi, Farsi, and Malayalam so clients can communicate comfortably in the language they feel most connected to.
Sessions are available in person at our Etobicoke and Scarborough locations, as well as virtually across Toronto, Mississauga, North York, and surrounding Ontario communities. Evening and weekend appointments are also available to accommodate different schedules.
Starting over in a new country can feel emotionally and mentally overwhelming. Many refugees and refugee claimants carry stress related to trauma, uncertainty, family separation, settlement challenges, financial pressure, or difficult life experiences from the past.
We provide counselling support for eligible IFHP clients in a welcoming and supportive environment. Some individuals may need help with anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional stress, grief, family conflict, or difficulties adjusting to life in Canada. Support is provided based on each individual’s comfort level, needs, and personal experiences.
We understand that opening up about personal struggles is not always easy. Our goal is to create an environment where clients feel respected, understood, and supported throughout the counselling process.
We offer therapy in multiple languages including English, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Tamil, Farsi, Marathi, and Malayalam because expressing emotions often feels easier when clients can communicate in the language they are most comfortable with.
Eligible IFHP clients may be able to access counselling services without paying out of pocket depending on their approved coverage. Clients are encouraged to contact us with their IFHP details so eligibility and coverage can be confirmed before sessions begin.
